College of General Studies

Journeys Begin Here

The College of General Studies offers courses on UWM’s campuses in Waukesha and Washington County. It was created in 2018 when UW-Waukesha and UW-Washington County joined with UWM as part of the University of Wisconsin System’s reorganization of the two-year campuses formerly known as UW Colleges. The UWM College of General Studies includes three departments — Arts and Humanities, Math and Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Business. The departments offer classes in more than 29 subject areas and provide an excellent higher education that is both affordable and accessible. Its locations allow students to study in their home communities while getting a great start on a University of Wisconsin degree.

50 States Challenge for Military and Veterans Resource Center
When we have donors from all 50 states, it will unlock $5,000 from an anonymous donor to the Military and Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC). MAVRC works to address the challenges faced by current and former service members and their dependents. MAVRC is committed to assisting the military related students at UWM in completing successful transitions from the military, through their education and into the civilian workplace.

When Northwestern Mutual has over 50% of UWM Panthers@Work employees make a gift to any fund, in support of 414 for UWM Giving Day, a $1,000 gift to UWM will be unlocked from Andrew DeGuire, Vice President Corporate Strategy at Northwestern Mutual.
