STUDENT SUPPORT

Student support is the lifeblood of our university. 

UWM students depend on the generosity of alumni, donors, employees and friends of UWM to support vital campus resources, scholarships and fellowships. Because of collective support, we are able to provide student resources to address food insecurity and emergencies, as well as student-facing services such as our multicultural student centers, which set UWM apart from other universities.

50 States Challenge for Military and Veterans Resource Center
When we have donors from all 50 states, it will unlock $5,000 from an anonymous donor to the Military and Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC). MAVRC works to address the challenges faced by current and former service members and their dependents. MAVRC is committed to assisting the military related students at UWM in completing successful transitions from the military, through their education and into the civilian workplace.

First-Time Donor Challenge
One first-time donor to UWM will be chosen at random to win an extra $1,000 for the UWM fund of their choice, thanks to an anonymous donor. Gifts must be made from March 7, 2023 to April 14, 2023 at noon CST to qualify.

Northwestern Mutual Employee Challenge
When Northwestern Mutual has over 50% of UWM Panthers@Work employees make a gift to any fund, in support of 414 for UWM Giving Day, a $1,000 gift to UWM will be unlocked from Andrew DeGuire, Vice President Corporate Strategy at Northwestern Mutual.

Social Media Pet Challenge
Show your Panther Pride by using #414forUWM and mentioning @uwmalumni in a social media post with a picture of your pet. When 20 people have posted, it will unlock a $500 challenge gift for the UWM Ignite Fund, which has a broad purpose of providing funds for the greatest university needs, thanks to an anonymous donor. All entries must be posted on social media by April 14, 2023 at 4:14 pm CST.

Alumnus Kevin Draeger '04 will give $500 when 7 donors give to the Black Cat Ultimate Scholarship (Ultimate Frisbee) Challenge. The fund provides scholarships for undergraduate students with academic merit (3.0 cum GPA) who demonstrate financial need and dedication/commitment to the Black Cat Ultimate Club (Frisbee) at UWM.
